I am a teacher by profession and started Sea kayaking in 1990. Soon afterwards I took up Slalom paddling and then Whitewater kayaking. Since becoming a Level 4 kayak Coach in 1997 I have guided groups throughout Britain and Europe. Further afield I have kayaked in Turkey, Nepal and New Zealand and have coached and guided University groups, Scout groups, the RAF and local government. I am a busy club coach running up to 4 pool sessions a week also trips at weekends and am kayak Instructor for Barnardos North Wales. One of my unusual experiences has been open boating every river in "Fluffy's Guide to the Central Massif" in southern France, taking just seven weeks.
I am a mature Instructor drawing on my experience when coaching. My philosophy is that the people who get most from kayaking are the ones who learn basic kayak handling skills and take the time to 'read' the water.
