Assistant Centre Manager

Vacancy for an Assistant Centre Manager (3 - 5 days a week) - £16,000 - £18,000 pro-rata plus benefits. To start April 2008

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated person at our busy Activity centre in Llangollen, North Wales. The Assistant Manager will be an integral part of our well-knit team, with joint responsibility for the Centre at the weekends, and playing a supporting role to the Centre manager during the week. Opportunities exist for further training in the provision of Outdoor Activities.

The Assistant Manager will be involved in the provision of some activities where suitably qualified, Sales and Admin, Staffing of activities and a wide range of varying tasks relating to the running of a busy Outdoor Activity Centre. The successful applicant must be willing to work through peak periods.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential:

Experience of the outdoor activities industry or experience of working in a increased risk environment. (Experience of producing risk assessments and of health and safety procedures welcomed)

Ability to deal with a wide range of people, including the general public

Ability to work without supervision and to act on own initiative, whils keeping within the company's safety procedues and policies.

Good telephone manner

Good level of physical fitness.

Current driving licence.


Preferred

Any of the following - SPA / SPAt, BCU L2 kayak coach or higher, BCU L1 raft guide or higher,

Knowledge of office systems, computer based accounting systems (Preferably Sage) and good IT skills

Awareness of equal opportunities

Valid First Aid Certificate (training can be provided)

Photography Course leader

Experienced Photography tutor required for Easter 2008

We are looking for an experienced photography tutor to help set up and lead short (1-3 day) photography courses for groups in Llangollen. The right applicant will have a wide knowledge of both compact cameras and SLR / DSLR, and of appropriate PC / MAC based software. He /She will have a background in tutoring / lecturing and be able to deal with all levels of student knowledge.

The courses will be run predominently at the weekends or in school holidays, although some evenings may be involved. 

Good rates of pay

Applicant will need to be able to work as a self-employed person.

Safety Kayakers

Calling all paddlers...We need safety boaters for the spring season. Pop in and try out with Jim Jayes. L3 or 4* standard preferred. In boat and line rescue training is available if you don't already hold a qualification. You will be paid £25 per session to paddle alongside rafting sessions.

 Kayak & canoe coaches L2 upwards

White water raft guides (training & Qualifications available)

 Gorge scrambling guides (training & Qualifications available)

Work for activities staff is on a freelance basis as well as a number of full time positions, with sessional rates from £28 to £45 per two or three hour session. (We are often able to offer up to three sessions a day).
